From Farmhouse to Table

Thanks to a five month old gift certificate, we recently dined at The Farmhouse for far less than we would have spent anywhere else. A twenty minute walk from our home, The Farmhouse has a sophisticated, yet surprisingly casual atmosphere, and has become our mainstay for celebratory meals. The noise can be a tad bothersome, but when our first course arrived at 8:30, the place had already cleared out. That’s the suburbs for you!

On this particular occasion, we began with an order of the increasingly trendy (and always satisfying) fried pickles as well as an heirloom tomato salad to share. Between the veggies, the salad contained some of the most amazing burrata we had ever tasted. We also split the Maine halibut and vegetarian risotto for dinner. The risotto was decent, but the real star of the show was the halibut. We both agreed that we would have preferred our own full portion of fish. Maybe next time.

Speaking of next time, you should note that The Farmhouse’s menu changes seasonally. Although you never know what will be available, there’s a high probability it will be pretty yummy.
