Minecraft Purim

This has been the year of Minecraft!

Eitan’s birthday party and Purim costume were all based on the legendary game. It has been all the talk in our house for months and has brought a lot of joy (and frustration) to our days.

So of course the mishloach manot had the same theme. I was going to make the boxes like I usually do – a big pain – but found some on Amazon. This saved hours of my time.

For the grownups I made little snack packs of “diamonds” and “emeralds” using jelly beans. The silver nuggets are mini Hershey chocolates. The pencils are from one of my favorite Etsy shops.

As usual, Rich did a brilliant job designing the card. It was such a pleasure to take the family picture this year because we had those boxes on our heads! No need to smile. The hardest part was making sure we were all in the frame.

Instead of food – not allowed at Schechter – we gave the kids Minecraft stickers and magnetic building blocks.

I will say the costumes were a bit awkward at the Purim carnival and Megillah reading. Having a box on your head that you can barely see out of is not conducive to running children. Mostly I just looked like I was dressed in white, which was fine with me!
