Shavuot 5781

I never know what to do for Shavuot! Especially without a trip to synagogue, the only thing I could think of was cheesecake. I decided to challenge myself and think about the beginnings of this holiday: the first harvest. It struck me as strange that we celebrate a harvest so early in the spring. Obviously, Israel has a very different climate, but in this day and age, it is so important to celebrate every part of life. Celebrating the first fruits has never felt more right. I decided to use wheat as a table theme (although in New England, asparagus would make more sense – maybe next year!). To switch things up, I made a donut cake for dessert instead of the usual cheesecake! Chag Sameach!
