In September, I was already sick of apple desserts. This is not a good sign when you live in New England. Everyone is supposed to be picking, eating, baking, or canning apples until after Thanksgiving. I decided not to fight it, but to find a New England dessert just as acceptable. The key ingredient? Maple syrup!
I found this recipe and fell in love with the idea. When Eitan and I made it, though, it just wasn’t great. Too much maple. Then I saw these tartlet shells on PeaPod and was inspired. The hardest part of the tart was the crust! Baking with a two year old is never easy so the simpler the recipe, the more interested I am.
I halved the filling and filled the tarts. They came out great!
