Our first challenge upon when walking into our new home was this absolutely foul no-longer-white carpet over our Cape Cod’s signature staircase. Our three year old nephew deemed it “soft” with an air of finality. It was time for it to go.
Once the plumes of dust had settled, we knew we had hit the jackpot. Unadulterated hardwood! As an added bonus, we were lucky enough to discover some groovy 1970s era flower-power stenciling.
You may have noticed the unusual hole in the wall. Once again, it was our nephew to the rescue! This would make a perfect peep hole, he exclaimed. Still, we insisted on its removal.
After a little refinishing and a bit of paint – drum roll, please – our first project was complete. Note the finishing touch: a graphic representation of our new home created by Rich for our first wedding anniversary.
